Okay, so this is Keanu Reeves, Los Angeles, California, June 1, 1994. These pictures were taken at The Chateau Marmont on Sunset Blvd.
Myra Vides, a friend of Keanus, who I worked with a lot, was the stylist. It made it easier having a mutual friend there.

I am always looking for a point of connection. It can be anything. A piece of music. A book. With Keanu, we connected on the German choreographer, Pina Bausch. Pina was a jumping-off point. It's funny to take photos in a location and use so little of the space. I often like changing one single element in a photo to mix things up, like the chair on the bed.

This was the first shoot I had done on my own at The Chateau. I stayed there a lot when I was assisting Annie Leibovitz. It always felt like a dangerous place. It WAS a dangerous place before they fixed it up. Not that anyone was going to hurt you there...but a lot of people hurt themselves at The Chateau.
